What this site does
A driveway is a big outlay, and most people only buy one or two in their lifetime. This site sets out what you need to know before you get quotes: what each surface costs on 2026 UK averages, how it should be laid, what lies underneath, and the council rules that catch people out, from the 5m² front-garden rule to dropped kerb licences.
When you are ready, you can ask for a free quote through our quote form. Your enquiry is passed to a local installer, who will be in touch to talk through the job and give you a written quote.

How quotes work
- Send your details. Use the quote form to say what you have now, what you would like and your postcode.
- Talk it through. You will be contacted to discuss the job and, where needed, arrange a visit to measure up and check levels and drainage.
- Get a written quote. A written price you can compare like for like. There is no charge and no obligation to go ahead.
Why use us
- It is free. There is no charge for the quote.
- No obligation. You decide whether to go ahead, and nothing is agreed until you accept a written quote.
- Local to Middlesbrough. The site covers Middlesbrough and its suburbs only, and the guides explain Middlesbrough Council's own rules and fees.
- Plain-English guides. Costs, surfaces, planning and drainage explained without jargon, with sources given for the figures we quote.
